Gunnison Visitors Center
Gunnison, CO

The Gunnison Outdoor Discovery Center is a project of the Colorado Division of Wildlife. The Center will be part of a new campus that will also include a hunter education building and general administration building. Gyroscope has had responsibility for planning all indoor and outdoor exhibits for the project in collaboration with Page Southerland Page Architects.

The big ideas for the Center include preparing and encouraging visitors to participate in outdoor activities; not only hunting and fishing, which are key concerns for the Division of Wildlife, but also hiking, skiing, rafting, and a whole host of other recreational opportunities. Our plan conceives of the Center as a staging area that introduces visitors to wildland activities in Colorado, gives them a chance to hone their skills, and provides information about how and where to participate.

The project is currently on hold due to the 2012 merger of the Division of Wildlife with the Division of Parks but we anticipate that work will proceed shortly once the merger is complete.

Scheduled Completion: TBD
