Fort Collins Museum of Discovery
Fort Collins, CO

For four years, Gyroscope served as Visitor Experience Planners and Designers for the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery. The Museum, which opened a brand new 40,000 square foot facility November 2012, is a merger between two existing institutions: a community history museum and an interactive science center.

Gyroscope has had full responsibility for all phases of exhibit planning and design, from master planning through opening.

Gyroscope’s designs are planned to deepen the Museum’s relationship to the community. Although it offers rewarding experiences for first-time or occasional users, the new Museum emphasizes longer and deeper relationships, and repeat use rather than one-time visits. It aims to be a resource that can be used again and again in relevant and ever changing ways, and one that users can adapt to meet their personal needs.

It is our hope and our intent that visitors will be inspired to become better stewards of their community, their planet, and themselves. In keeping with that goal, the major themes include Energy and Sustainable Practice, Health, the Environment, and Culture.

Opened: November 2012
